When Crisis Strikes, Support Matters Most.
Critical incidents—such as terrorist attacks, sudden deaths, natural disasters, or workplace emergencies—can leave individuals and teams emotionally overwhelmed. At Amazon Counselling Centre, we offer Critical Incident Therapy (CIT) to help survivors, witnesses, and organizations process trauma, reduce emotional distress, and regain psychological stability.
We provide immediate crisis intervention and debriefing to mitigate long-term mental health consequences and support recovery after shocking or life-threatening events.
What is Critical Incident Therapy?
Critical Incident Therapy, also known as Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD), is a structured psychological intervention delivered within 24 to 72 hours after a traumatic event. It allows individuals to:
🗣️ Talk through what happened in a safe, guided space
🧠 Understand common emotional and physical reactions
🤝 Normalize their feelings and connect with others
🧘🏾♂️ Begin early stress relief and emotional regulation
When is it Needed?
CIT is recommended after incidents such as:
🧨 Terrorist attacks or armed conflict
🚨 Workplace accidents or violence
👩🏽⚕️ Exposure to sudden death or mass trauma (e.g. health workers, security teams)
💔 Suicide or unexpected loss in a group or team
🎓 Critical school or community events
(violence, fire, collapse, etc.)
Common Reactions CIT Addresses
- Emotional: anxiety, shock, denial, guilt, rage, fear, grief
- Physical: fatigue, restlessness, headaches, tremors, nausea
- Psychological: confusion, flashbacks, insomnia, paranoia, suicidal ideation
- Our goal is to prevent PTSD, burnout, and long-term distress by offering immediate and compassionate support.
